On October 18, a press conference on the development of Chinese national exhibition projects was held at the Russia Today press center. The main topics of the event were the upcoming exhibition of mechanical engineering and innovation from China and the international exhibition of high-quality consumer goods. A spokesman for the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Li Chaohui, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in the Russian Federation welcomed the organizers of national exhibitions. A spokesman reviewed the trade and economic cooperation between Russia and China, noting the high growth rates in trade turnover in 2017 (a 20% increase over the same period last year). For example, construction equipment and lifting mechanisms from China are widely used in high-rise construction in Russia and the CIS countries, they are tested by time and practice. “Electrical products from China have been tested in NOVATEK projects for the production of liquefied gas, which indicates prospects for the use of equipment from China in the future,” said Vladimir Gutnikov.
Speaking about the upcoming exhibition of mechanical engineering and innovation from China, Timur Andreev noted that the number of participants has increased, indicating a growing interest of Chinese companies to Russia. According to the expert, this is due to the strengthening of Western sanctions against Russia, which limited the supply of engineering equipment to Russia. “In this regard, Chinese partners have additional opportunities to enter the Russian market, and the exhibition will allow acquainting Russian partners with engineering products from Chinese companies,” said Timur.
Ksenia Temnikova stressed the importance of modernizing enterprises and introducing advanced technologies into production. With regard to cooperation between the Russian and Chinese business, Ksenia noted the need to build business relations primarily on trust, which needs to be strengthened by establishing contacts and demonstrating the achievements of the capital and regional enterprises to each other.

Analyzing the development of investment cooperation between Russia and China, Andrei Lukashev said that the most sought-after industries for companies with Chinese participation include the mining, petrochemical and woodworking industries, as well as engineering. The analyst noted that many Chinese projects have long-term investment prospects and are not limited to a one-time investment. According to Skladium, Chinese funds and companies not only occupy the first place among foreign investors in the production of Russia (about 16.5 billion rubles or 6.6% of the total), but also achieved a tangible advantage over Western companies.
